Funnel Chart

What is Funnel Chart? As per wiki Funnel charts are a type of chart, often used to represent stages in a sales process and show the amount of potential revenue for each stage. This type of chart can also be useful in identifying potential problem areas in an organization’s sales processes. A funnel chart is similar to a stacked percent bar chart. Let’s go step by step and create a Funnel Chart:

Step 1: We are taking an example of Customer Service agency where data looks like below:

Insert a column between stages and customers and apply a formula, which finds maximum number in the “customer” in the data series and subtract the number in the current data row and then divides by 2 as shown below:

Note: [Customers] is the name of column as I have formatted my data into table. you can put direct range reference.

Step 2: Select all three columns above and insert a Stacked Bar Chart from Insert ribbon tab as shown below:

Click OK and chart gets inserted as shown below:

Step 3: Next we have to revers the categories order, to do so, Double click on the Axis and check Categories in reverse order checkbox under Axis Options on the side panel

Step 4: Bridge the Gap in Series hence select a series on the chart and double click, make 0% Gap width under Series Options as shown below

Step 5: Select the Blue Series and double click >> Format Chart Area on side panel select Chart Options >> No fill under Fill option then No line under Border option to remove the same.

Step 6: Format chart to make up as follow:

  1. Remove legends
  2. Axis notations
  3. Remove grid lines
  4. Add data labels
  5. Change title
  6. Change color as per your wish
