Binary to Octal Conversion in Excel with step by step example

BIN2OCT

An inbuilt function, converts binary to octal. Binary to Octal conversion is required sometimes and excel offers solution for it. BIN2OCT function performs Binary number to Octal conversion.

Syntax

=BIN2OCT(number, [places])

  • number: a mandatory parameter, requires binary number, should not be more than 10 digits (bits)
  • places: an optional parameter, if argument is supplied then formula determines minimum number of characters necessary. It pads Zeros in the return value
